Golden Ponds Park & Nature Area
Located in Longmont, Colorado, Golden Ponds & Nature Area is just one of the many local park and wildlife areas that the Boulder/Denver suburbs have to offer. It’s the first open space I had a chance to explore when we moved from LA, and I love it. Parking is easy to find at the end of 3rd street, and there are well maintained bathrooms, a water fountain, and a covered picnic area right at the trailhead.

Boulder Creek is a quant little stream that flows right through the heart of Boulder, Colorado. You can even fish for and catch trout right in the middle of town. I, however, ventured just outside of Boulder to wet my line.

Gear Review: Hiking Boots (Mens) – Columbia Newton Ridge Plus
When Crystal and I decided to take up backpacking many years ago, I went to all the outdoor stores looking for hiking boots; REI, Bass Pro Shop, Cabela’s, Gander Mountain, etc. The problem was I’m huge, 6’6″, and wear a size 15, and most of these places didn’t carry anything in my size at their brick and mortar stores, only online. Now if any of you have ever ordered shoes online without trying them on you know it can be a scary proposition since shoes are all about comfort especially when they’re for hiking.
